From the Director

Welcome to the City Of Columbus’ Equal Business
Opportunity Commission Office (EBOCO) website. As one of the largest
single consumers of goods and services in Central Ohio, Columbus is
committed to business development, equal access, fair competition, and
unlimited opportunity for all business.
The mission of the Equal Business Opportunity Commission Office is to
promote the inclusiveness of minority and female owned businesses within
the city’s procurement process and to facilitate via race and gender
neutral tools, the equitable awarding of contracts to minority and
female business enterprises.
These tools include an aggressive internal and external outreach
program, bid specification review, technical assistance, and review of
city procurement practices. EBOCO also monitors, tracks and reports
Minority and Female Business participation as well as the City’s
compliance with state and federal affirmative action regulations.
Under the leadership of Mayor Michael Coleman, EBOCO continually strives
to live up to the goals of Columbus Covenant. While our principle goal
is the creation of opportunities for small, minority and women owned
businesses the rationale for that commitment is based on the
acknowledgement that the economic vitality of that business community
will have a significant impact on the neighborhood they are located.
I encourage the entire business community to take advantage EBOCO’s
advocacy and expertise.
